Great advice on family protection dogs

19 July 2022

If you are planning on going away on holiday soon, you are probably busy putting together the final touches, and making plans so that the holiday runs smoothly.

And, while your thoughts are on what to pack and what time you need to leave to catch your flight (among other things), it’s worth noting the importance of taking your protection dogs with you on holiday.

Taking a trained German shepherd with you on holiday might be the last thing on your mind, but leaving him or her behind could be a big mistake.

Trained Protection Dogs

Having trained protection dogs is about you having protection wherever you go and, while on holiday, the risk of being attacked or being threatened still exists.

You want to keep you and your family members - especially children - safe at all times and expertly trained family security and protection dogs will be there for you when you need them.

When taking a relaxing break, we often let our guard down, possibly (and wrongly) assuming that criminals might take a break as well. This might sound silly, but the mind works in strange ways, and the decision to leave your trained German shepherd at home only increases the risk for you and your family.

Why? Because you are likely to be out and about in public.

Nobody goes on holiday and then locks themselves in a hotel room for the duration. Whether you are a relaxing beach holiday type of person or an explorer that wants to visit the museum, the countryside or something else, you and your family will be out in public much more than you usually would be.

And that’s where trained protection dogs play their crucial part.

Trained protection dogs can be with you wherever you go. They are also trained to stay on high alert and they will continue to be on standby, looking out for dangers while you enjoy the holiday that you deserve.

This contrasts with security dogs that aren’t trained to the same high standards as a trained german shepherd. Security dogs - if not trained by K9 Protector - could actually be dangerous to take on holiday as they may not have the level of training and intelligence that german shepherds receive from our specialist dog trainers in the UK.

Family Protection Dogs

Trained protection dogs from K9 Protector are also great family protection dogs. They are completely safe around your family and, in fact, they usually become part of the family. They quickly learn who is family, who is friendly and who is not.

If you are going on a family holiday then you absolutely must take your trained protection dogs with you.

So, if you are wondering if you should take your protection dog with you on holiday this summer, the answer is unequivocally yes - you should!

Taking your protection dog with you means that you can relax on your dream holiday, knowing that you and your family are protected and safe.

Should I take my protection dog if it’s just me and my partner?

Yes, you should. Your trained german shepherd is there to provide you personally and your family with the protection your need - whether that’s you and your partner or if you have children with you also.

Alsatians make great family protection dogs and are comfortable with adults and children.

Should I still take my protection dog if I’m going abroad?

Yes, providing it’s logistically possible, you should take your trained german shepherd with you wherever you go on holiday. It doesn’t matter if you are staying in the UK or travelling abroad, your protection dogs should be by your side to protect you..
